3 Simple Steps To Escaping Your Job - Work It Daily
3 Simple Steps To Escaping Your Job - Work It Daily How To Escape Your Job Do you ever have a little voice in your head telling you to get the heck out of your job? RELATED: Need some job search advice? Watch these tutorials! How many times a day does it bug you⦠and how long has it been there? Usually (thanks to this small, yet annoying voice), we know when itâs time for a change. Weâll do our best for as long as possible to improve our attitude or circumstances, and then eventually, something gives. The good news is that, in my experience, the sooner you can recognize that you deserve better, the sooner youâll get the outcome you desire. How To Escape Your Job So, letâs walk through together the three simple steps for escaping your job and starting your dream career, plus a couple of bonus resources thatâll help you take the next step. 1. Decide You Deserve Better The first step is acknowledging that you arenât fulfilled with your current position, and that itâs not your fault. You gave it your best shot, and while it may have been great for a time, itâs not working anymore. You deserve better. And youâre going to decide, in this moment, to do whatever it takes to create the life and career you deserve with the income, contribution, and happiness you want. 2. Define Your Dream I believe that the best way to inspire action is to clearly define (and be extremely excited for) your new life! And in my experience, the more specific you can get about what you want, the sooner youâll get the results you desire. Often, the hardest part is figuring out what we want. So, here are a couple of questions to help you get started: What would you regret NOT doing when youâre 60, 70, or 80 years old? What excites you? Inspires you? Motivates you? What challenges in your personal life do you want to overcome? Whatâs happening in the world today that drives you crazy - and you want to change or contribute to the solution? Sometimes - the solution will just click for you. Other times, itâll require some deeper reflection. But I can assure you, regardless of how long it takes or how many times you change your mind - constantly asking yourself these questions is one of the most important things you can do. 3. Find Your Heroes, Follow Them Take Action One of the biggest inspirations for my lifestyle and career is Tim Ferriss, author of The Four Hour Work Week (you can imagine why based on the title). Tim has a unique perspective on life, work, and retirement that was different than anything Iâve ever heard, and it really resonated with me. Consequently, the last five years or so of my life have been spent working to incorporate the aspects of his philosophy that I agree with into my life⦠And you can do the same. Find someone (or multiple people) you admire, learn what they did to make them so successful, and then apply the aspects that fit your desires to your own life. The biggest lesson here? You donât have do it all yourself. There is a proven blueprint for success and fulfillment out there that you can borrow - you just need to look for it. I documented my blueprint in a free video thatâs your first bonus resource, which you can watch here. It shares the wisdom I learned from my mentor years ago as I was âescapingâ my job⦠And your 2nd bonus resource is the article that inspired me to write this piece. The author gives 10 great tips on taking the first bold step towards a more fulfilling life. You deserve the best, now go out and claim it! This post was originally published at an earlier date.
